What is the CLP Regulation

Regulation CLP refers to the new EU regulations on classification, labeling and packaging of chemicals (EU-CLP: Regulation (EC) 1272/2008), which implements the United Nations Global Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS). There is no tonnage limit for CLP. Those with tonnage less than 1 ton must also be classified according to CLP. (That is, all REACH substances must complete CLP notification)

On January 20, 2009, CLP came into effect;

After November 30, 2010, substances must be classified according to the new CLP;

January 3, 2011, the deadline for the first batch of notifications;

On June 1, 2015, mixtures must be classified under the new CLP.

Important: When exporting to the EU, the CLP notification number is valid when used together with the REACH registration number. (Compared with REACH, the CLP notification requirement data is much simpler, but there is no buffer period. It is the first task that export companies must complete)

CLP law enforcement measures:

1) It does not comply with CLP and cannot be put on the market;

2) Each member state shall notify ECHA of its penalty measures before June 22, 2010: Italian SDS: fine of 10,000-60,000 euros, Latvia fine of 711-1,423 euros, and Netherlands fine + imprisonment.
