GHS is suitable for pure chemical substances, their dilute solutions and mixtures of chemical substances. It classifies chemicals by hazard type and provides recommendations for harmonizing hazard communication elements, including labels and safety data sheets. GHS aims to ensure the provision of information on the physical hazards and acute toxicity of chemicals in order to enhance the protection of human health and the environment during the handling, transportation and use of chemicals. GHS also provides the basis for the harmonization of chemicals rules and regulations at national, regional and global levels.
